This was one of the original photos from the shoot where I was playing around with more simple ideas. The two hands make a prominent shadow in the background which I really like. The shaping the hand at the top brings I also like, however the point in this shoot was to try with a lot of different hands. However this was a good starting point for how I wanted to take forward my work.
The shadows and contrast is my favourite thing about this photo because of how soft they are however how much of an edge they give the photograph. The pose I like but I feel it is to distracting at the edges I prefer the portait photos I have done.
Although I really like the pulling at the face which has been bought in this photo, the boredom on the face stays really obvious which I really like. However the hair at top is to distracting for me. It doesn't fall right and looks to much at the top of the photo. I wanted to incorporate however, the rotation of this photo and the pulling on the face.
This was my best image from the shoot I feel, it incorporates everything I wanted it to. I like the hair a lot more than the previous photo it adds a lot more tension specially with the hand on top looking to these. The eye brow on the left adds a nice shape to the face. Keeping the lighting to the left also left me with a nice shadow on the right hand side. I feel the eye contact works best straight at the camera.
After researching how the media is pressuring girls to be something there not, I looked at how I could express this physically. When photographing I chose to use many different hands beautifying the model to express how strong media has become. Using eyelash curlers in the first photograph was meant to lead the viewer into a comfort, but the photographs after were meant to be hard hitting. I needed my photographs to show natural emotion. I chose black and white to strip away any sort of blemishes and keep the photographs clean and clinical. From here I wanted to develop this specific idea for my final piece, I chose to explore other types of ways media is changing us and configuring us to be what they want. I chose to research other ways they have done this.
