From the research I started to decide how I wanted to incorporate the idea that it sends out to little girls. I looked at how it encourages girls to want to be something there not. I used this idea in my next lot of experimentation. The concept was to show how the the constant pressure from media makes little girls what to change and take steps to become what the media want. I believe Barbie is a good example of this as it gives girls an unrealistic idea of how they should be. I used black and white to bring out the silhouette. This worked best on the white background because of the black fabric. I used a simple stance on all of them and believed the tense hand worked best because it looks like its really tightening the belt. High contrast on them again bought out the highlights and shadow.
In first images they didn't work as I wanted because of the black background and the black jeans. The shape didn't really stand out like I wanted. However the tension in the hands I really like and it really adds the sort of look of her really squeezing herself in.
These photographs however have the look in the hand as if she is holding a tape measure. Although I didn't like the black on black I think the contrast of the skin works really nicely. I like the composition being really central I think with photos like this they had to be hard hitting and this gives the effect of a centre piece.
In this photo I was trying to experiment with different poses- I wanted to try the belt on the skin instead of round the jeans. I like how the skin is around the bely and it really pulls out the hips. But I don't like it as much as the jeans and don't plan to take it forward.
I reshot the original photographs on a white background to try out weather it worked better with the jeans. I really preferred this because it showed the silhouette a lot better and even gave a small thigh gap. The skin also caught really nice shadows on the edges. Overall I really preferred the photos like this.
